Finishing what's been our quietest year with a new release of drone trio Shentov, Simitchiev, Lukanov.

Pain and Power is the second collaborative album of Bulgarian musicians Ivan Shentov, Martin Lukanov, and Angel Simitchiev. Even more minimal in terms of instrumentation and music, it is also darker and bleaker compared to its predecessor Palimpsest (Amek, 2022). Like most of the music of the trio, Pain and Power was recorded throughout various sessions with the live element being a main driving force of the creative process, alongside the heavily amplified sound of processed guitars, rudimentary synths for portable gaming consoles, and devices, electroacoustic improvisation, field recordings and everything that lies in between. The music on Pain and Power is as much the result of improvisation as it is created through meticulous (re)arrangement and (de)composition.
